Articles Submission Guidelines

AustinHolistic.com Article Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting your Holistic Article for consideration of publication on AustinHolistic.com. Below are the guidelines for writing and submitting articles. Note that all articles will be readily accessible and free to the public. They will also be indexed directly by Internet search engines. If you have any questions and/or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Topics

An article should give the reader something they can "walk away with and use". They should not focus on the author, unless they are sharing an experience or a point of view. Example topics include:

- Better and alternative ways of health maintenance and disease treatment
- Observations about lifestyles, habits and disease (e.g., cause, effect and releasing yourself)
- Specific Diseases -- case studies, personal experience as client or practitioner, what you've learned
- Healing Practices -- meditation, yoga, nutrition, etc., the benefits and trade offs
- Healing Arts -- what a healing modality has to offer, the procedure, frequency and duration, what results to expect and how to know when it is (not)
working, who would be well suited for it, what you've learned.
- The importance of the practitioner-client relationship and how to find a good practitioner

Topics which should not be in an article (but may belong in paid Practitioner Close Up pages) include:

- Ads – extended practitioner bio or introduction, primary focus on the author, fees, availability
- Product lists/lines, specific prices, store hours
- Information that will become quickly dated (within a few years)

Manuscript Organization and Format

- Each manuscript should contain a corresponding title
- The main text (body of the article)
- An "About the Author" paragraph similar to those found in common articles and books

In formatting the main body of your article, keep the following in mind:

- All published articles will be maintained in HTML (web page) format. The Web does not support all the features of a sophisticated word processing
program. Keep formatting simple. No formatting is best!
- Web pages don't have a fixed length so don't reference page numbers. Your article will be on one web page.
- Don't worry about font styles. Our Web publishing software format and style consistent with AustinHolistic.com.

Manuscript Submission and the Review Process

Electronic media are required (floppy disks or e-mail) for manuscript submissions. The data formats we support are HTML, Microsoft Word, WordPad and ASCII. Contact us if you have questions. (We don't expect you to be a computer expert).

Allow about three weeks for us to review your manuscript and contact you. The review will yield one of the following.

- Acceptance as is
- A request for revision, with comments
- Not accepted, with comments
